Collection: Caroline Martin

Caroline is a contemporary abstract painter based in East Sussex.
She studied a Foundation Diploma in Art and completed a BA Hons Fashion degree in London; going on to work in textile design and silkscreen printing.
After moving to Sussex to focus on raising a family, she was asked to create a large painting for a close friend. Something sparked and she has been painting ever since; regularly exhibiting in Art exhibitions across the South of England with clients and collectors from Singapore to the Isle of White.
Caroline is an intuitive painter translating her experience of natural forms into abstracted paintings, water being an ongoing theme.
Music and colour play a major role in her process, exploring paint effects whilst building up layers to create expressive but calming original paintings.

Artist Statement

I create original multi layered abstract paintings at my home studio in East Sussex, working on large canvasses and wood panels. I am hugely inspired by water and the sky and love blending creative mark making with a variety of mediums including watercolour ink, spray paint, acrylic and copper leaf, to create colours and forms that are completely unique. Music and colour play a major part in my process and dictate the energy flow of each piece. I work on several paintings at the same time, moving between them, building up the layers, adding or taking away until I feel they are finished.
My artwork is expressive but calm with each painting developing organically to create a one off piece of art.
